Nov. 16, Diversidad Latina will welcome nationally known speaker Cibad Hernandez to Liberal for its Empoderate Mujer women’s conference.
Diversidad Latina’s Patricia Fierro said the conference will be amazing, and Hernandez, with millions of followers on social media, provides great influence.
“He talks about women empowerment, self-reflection and self-worth and many things that have to do with our state of being, our mental health, empowering women and talking to them about everyday life and how we should value ourselves more in things,” she said. “He’s really great with words, and we’re really excited to have him here.”
Fierro said she expects local Latinas to become empowered, and she wants to bring in a large group of women to listen to Hernandez’s message and leave with a different view of self-worth. In addition to this, she wants those in attendance to see how changing mindsets and seeking needed help, things come to the surface, and they are able to experience or listen to someone.
“Maybe you’re able to speak something you’ve been holding back,” Fierro said. “We’re hoping we’ll have groups of women who will go. That way, it will enable them to speak something they’ve probably been keeping within themselves, and now, they’re able to possibly express it. I think this will help out in that way.”
Fierro said she also feels the conference will leave crowd members feeling more grateful, more acceptive of things and wanting to move forward in a positive way.
“We’re hoping to have a positive impact in lot of ladies’ lives,” she said. “This is a women’s only conference. Helping in their relationship, helping them as coworkers, as friends, as mothers, as daughters. Overall, we want them to have a little more self-love so they understand their value and their worth.”
Fierro said Empoderate Mujer likewise can be used as a healthy girls night out.
“It will be an event where you can have a good time with your friends in a healthy way by listening to somebody who’s going to give you a big boost and help your overall mental health and hopefully make you see things a little more clear if they were foggy before.”
The conference is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Seward County Ag Building. Fierro said flyers are posted throughout Liberal, and those interested in coming can scan the QR code on the flyer to register.
“It’ll take them to our Facebook post on Diversidad Latina,” she said. “If you’re not local, if you’re not from Liberal and you can’t buy it from Griselda, Paola or myself, you can see the other gals throughout Southwest Kansas or even in Texas. You can get the numbers and reach out to them so they can get you the tickets”
Fierro said her excitement could not be higher for the conference.
“It’s a 10 out of 10,” she said. “This is so amazing for me. I saw him about a year and a half ago, and the impact he made in my life was tremendous. That’s where I met him, and I told him I needed him to come to Liberal. I needed him to come.”
Fierro said she needs women to listen to Hernandez’s message and seek professional help if needed.
“You may have issues you don’t even realize you have, or maybe you have something that isn’t like a trauma and maybe being able to reach out to your girlfriends and be open about whatever is going on in their lives and to be able to talk and not hold in things that may be going wrong in our life and also realizing you’re not alone,” she said. “There’s a village of women out there who are possibly going through the same problem, and you can lean on one another for that. That day will be just a really great day to reflect and get some positive messages out of it.”
