The Kansas Department of Transportation is hosting a public meeting from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, for the U.S. 83 Advanced Technology Project.

The meeting will take place at the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Center, 212 E. Fifth Street, in Scott City.   The project takes place along U.S. Highway 83 from the Thomas/Sheridan county line south 131 miles to the Finney/Haskell county line.

The event starts with a brief presentation at 4:30 p.m., where new technologies designed to help address safety, mobility and economic productivity along the corridor will be discussed.

Attendees can then view project materials and talk to the project team. Attendees can come and go during the event at their convenience.

In September 2022, KDOT received a nearly $7 million Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment grant from the Federal Highway Administration to support this project.

For those unable to attend, meeting materials and other information will be available after the meeting at ksdot.gov/US83-advanced-technology. Comments will be accepted until May 21.
