The time for Seward County United Way’s annual Chili Cookoff and the Liberal Chamber of Commerce Duck Race in September is still a few months away, but SCUW is already building excitement for the event with the offering of a chance for one lucky person to get a new ride.
Recently, United Way began selling tickets for a raffle in which the winner will receive a 2025 Jeep Wrangler, and Director Patricia Fierro recently received the keys to the vehicle from Chrysler Corner owner Jay Musgrave.
Fierro said the Wrangler has been showcased at some community events, including the recent Crossroads Ranch Rodeo, as well as in other parts of town, and she said thus far, ticket sales have been going well.
“We’ve got quite a bit of tickets already distributed,” she said. “We have more tickets on their way. It’s been accepted really well throughout the community. A lot of local businesses have participated in selling tickets. We’re very grateful and hope to have a really great turnout.”
Fierro officially received the keys in late April, and she said SCUW is moving on the right path with the raffle.
“I’m very excited to finally have the vehicle in our possession and very grateful to Chrysler Corner for their sponsorship and all their doing for United Way,” she said.
Tickets for the Wrangler are currently being sold at local businesses, including Chrysler Corner, and Fierro said a list is available on the Seward County United Way Facebook page.
“They are $5 a ticket or five tickets for $20,” she said. “We are continuing to add new businesses, so we’ll continue updating that list.”
With September still a few months away, Fierro said excitement is still already building for the raffle.
“The closer we’re getting, the more excited people are getting as well, and our ticket sales are also increasing,” she said.
With ticket sales already offering high numbers, Fierro said she sees the raffle continuing to be an annual event for United Way.
“With the help of Chrysler Corner, we’re very grateful, and we hope to continue this amazing partnership for years to come,” she said.
