Those looking for an opportunity to get in a round of golf while also supporting the local Chamber of Commerce will soon have the chance to do just that.

The 2025 Chamber of Commerce Chamber Challenge Tournament will be Saturday, June 14, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. that morning, and everything will take place at Willow Tree Golf Course at 1800 W. 15th Street. The tournament is a four-person scramble format and lunch will be provided. Anyone can enter a team, and it's $500 per team, and that includes up to two carts, and anyone wanting to sign up a team just needs to contact the Liberal Chamber of Commerce office at (620) 624-3855. There will be 10 hole prizes, cash payouts for multiple flights, and people can register for this year's tournament by calling the Chamber of Commerce office or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rozelle Webb said the annual tournament is always a good time.

“Our tournament gives out a lot of prizes, so a lot of the golfers will walk away with something from that day. We do this for the community so they can enjoy a day of golf,” Webb said. “The tournament's always typically a pleasant day for everyone, and it's a fun time to get out with friends for a round of golf and also help the Chamber of Commerce since this is a big fundraiser for us. And again, anyone wanting to sign up a team just needs to contact the Liberal Chamber of Commerce office at (620) 624-3855 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. Something that’s new for this year's event is the Continuation of Shot, which, for $50, means you get a 20-foot string that can be used as a continuation of a shot. A player can use that, for example, if there's a putt they don't think they'll quite make, so they can put the string from the ball to the hole and cut it, and it'll be counted as a shot. We're looking for teams to sign up for this year's event, and we're also taking sponsorships, and those can include a sign at the hole, the chance to offer refreshments, a banner, and one team registration. Everyone is welcome to form a team and sign up.”

Webb added those putting together teams should sign up sooner rather than later.

“Signing up sooner rather than later is definitely better because there is a good chance we'll run out of spaces due to how popular this tournament is,” Webb said. “If you want to be guaranteed a spot, get your team together as soon as possible and then get in touch with the Chamber of Commerce office. The tournament is still multiple weeks away, and it might seem like there’s still a lot of time, but we definitely encourage teams to get signed up sooner rather than later.”

The same goes for potential sponsors, Webb said.

“Like with our other events, being a sponsor is a great way to get your business's name out into the community and great advertising. We typically have between 36 to 38 teams come out, so that's a bunch of people who will be passing by your banner as the day goes on,” Webb said. “We also do a lot of advertising beforehand and will include all the sponsor businesses in all of that advertising, so again, it's just a good way to get the word out. Like with the team sign-ups, any business wanting to be a sponsor just needs to get in touch with us at the Chamber of Commerce office – we'll get you all signed up and give you the details of where to set up and all the logistical stuff. We can also email entry forms to people if necessary and help them fill it out.”

This is the seventh year of the tournament, and Webb said every year has been great.

“I remember with our first tournament, we were extremely surprised with how many teams we had signed up, and we were really happy with how that started out,” Webb said. “Turnout's increased a little bit each year, which we're also really happy about. We're really happy and proud this has proven such a popular event, it's a great thing for the community to be able to take part in. I'm excited about seeing how the Continuation of Shot goes, I think that could be a fun addition to everything else we're doing. I expect we'll be full again, and I hope we have good weather for this year. We had to deal with rain last year, but everyone still had an absolute blast, they didn't care they were getting soaking wet.”

Overall, Webb said, she expects another successful tournament.

“All the staff at Willow Tree Golf Course are so nice and so great to work with, and I can't say enough how much I appreciate everything they do for us. The teams that come out also always end up having a great time, and we've never really had any major problems with anyone,” Webb said. “It's a pretty fun and easygoing event for everyone. The golfers always tell us what a great time they have at the tournament, and that's something else that really makes this tournament worth it. And just like with our other events, you don't have to be a Chamber member to participate, anyone can put a team together for this time around. I really enjoy watching all the golfers come out and have fun, that's the best part. I just invite anyone and everyone, whether as a team or sponsor, to come out and enjoy the day or be part of this tournament in some way!”
