Kansas Department of Transportation
The Kansas Department of Transportation announced a strategic leadership appointment, naming Ron Hall, a veteran with nearly 45 years of unparalleled experience in engineering, maintenance and district leadership, as its new Director of Field Operations.
Hall most recently served as District Six Engineer in Southwest Kansas, a position he held since 2016.
He will continue to be based in Garden City while leading a critical division that orchestrates KDOT’s six districts and champions vital functions including highway maintenance, construction, snow and ice removal, roadside management and emergency response support.
Hall, who will celebrate 45 years with KDOT in June, began his career in KDOT’s Engineering-in-Training rotational program in 1980.
His career includes serving as an Equipment Engineer in the Construction and Maintenance Bureau, followed by 28 years as the Maintenance Engineer in District Six.
As District Six Engineer, Hall navigated budget shortfalls, maintained project continuity and helped the region for renewed investment under the IKE Transportation Program.
As Director of Field Operations, Hall emphasizes his commitment to supporting staff across the state as they navigate shifting workforce and economic conditions.
“It’s a great place to work,” he said. “KDOT is a family, and that unwavering support for each other is something truly special that you don’t find in most organizations.”
Hall and his wife, Chris, have eight children and 14 grandchildren.
