The Kansas Highway Patrol has released details regarding a train versus pedestrian accident Monday afternoon at the railroad tracks on Kansas Avenue that killed a Liberal man.
KHP reported 54-year-old Adan Lozano of Liberal was northbound on Kansas Avenue shortly after 2 p.m. when a train was eastbound on the tracks. KHP said the pedestrian was struck by the train near the intersection.
An eyewitness stated Lozano saw the train coming and started to run toward the tracks before the train reached the intersection but stumbled and fell before being struck.
Lozano was taken to Hornung Funeral Home in Liberal after he died from injuries sustained in the accident.
