Special to the Leader & Times
Federal funding plays a critical rote in education programs.
On June 30, the Kansas State Department of Education received notice the United States Department of Education was not releasing some of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act Title funding.
The district receives more than $2.1 million in ESEA Title funding and this action affects S709,000 of this funding. KSDE has advised districts to budget for receipt of funding for ESEA Title programs in the same amount as last year.
The district is preparing for contingencies and prioritizing sustainability across potentially affected programs, while maintaining transparency. The funds may be temporarily withheld by the current administration – however, absent an act of Congress, funds cannot be permanently withheld.
District programs that could be affected are:
• Title I C- Migrant Education: $270,000
• Title II A- Professional Development: $158,143
• Title III- English Language Acquisition: S214,744
• Title IV-Academic Enrichment: $66,268
Is this what “proud” MAGA voters voted for? Maybe you all can pay more in taxes to fill this hole. You realize that this is the only contingency plan left.
Great move electing this liar/conman for a second time.
Oh and by the way, thanks for voting to increase the price of every single thing that we buy.
