A Ulysses man suffered a suspected serious injury in a one-vehicle accident involving a semi Tuesday morning in Morton County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported around 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, a 2005 Peterbilt semi was northbound on Road 9 just north of BB Boulevard about 10 miles south of Manter.

KHP said the semi went off the road to the right with the passenger side tires, and the driver, 67-year-old Richard Lynn Lebrun of Ulysses, attempted to steer left to return to the roadway.

The semi and trailer, KHP said, overturned on the passenger side, with both facing northwest on Road 9 blocking both lanes of travel. Rock from the semi covered the northbound lane, shoulder and ditch.

Lebrun suffered a suspected serious injury and was taken to Stanton County Hospital. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time.
