Kansas Department of Transportation
Valerie Jimenez was recently promoted to Continuous Improvement Bureau Chief at the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Since she started in January 2022, Jimenez has helped introduce dynamic reporting tools to help the bureau in its efforts to drive Continuous Improvement agency-wide. This allows the bureau to evolve and focus more on enhancing efficiency.
“We help teams across the agency to apply continuous improvement principles and discover ways to improve any processes,” Jimenez said. “This opens the conversation to review and explore the way we do things and if there are things we can evaluate and consider improving.”
Organizing these steps and workflows for employees is important for several reasons. “We also want to make sure team members are having good day-to-day experiences so we can help Kansans better,” Jimenez said.
Jimenez is fairly new to Kansas. She grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, and graduated from MacEwan University in Alberta. She moved to Kansas in 2019 and worked at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Vital Statistics office for a year and a half before starting at KDOT.
She and her spouse live in Topeka, and this year, Jimenez started competing on Sundays in the Kansas City Women’s Hockey League. Her favorite hockey team is the Edmonton Oilers.
