Seward County Counsel Nathan Foreman submitted his resignation Wednesday to Seward County Commission Chair Scott Carr, and in his letter he listed several reasons for his departure.
“My private practice has significantly increased to the point where I do not believe I have the time to adequately represent the county,” Foreman wrote in his letter.
He also stated he was experiencing health issues which “make it difficult to keep up with the demands of the county.”
Foreman also added the additional litigation with the county played a factor.
“Please note, the legal matters that Seward County faces continue to significantly increase in both volume and complexity,” Foreman wrote. “As such, I believe the county is at the point that a full time County Counselor is likely warranted in order to devote significant time to its representation.”
Foreman added that he plans to work with the county on a timetable on his departure to aid with a transition to a new legal counselor and wanted to address pending matters including the upcoming tax sale.
“I appreciate the opportunity to serve the county where I was raised and wish you the best,” Foreman wrote.
