Kansas Department of Transportation

The Kansas Department of Transportation has begun an emergency bridge repair on the U.S. Highway 83 bridge over the Cimarron River, located north of Liberal in Seward County.

KDOT crews will be performing an emergency concrete patch on the northbound lane on the U.S. 83 bridge over the Cimarron River.

Traffic on U.S. 83 will be reduced to a single lane for the duration of the emergency bridge repair. Until temporary traffic lights are installed, flaggers will be present around the clock to direct traffic through the work zone.

Motorists should anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes and reduce speed when approaching and crossing the bridge. A 12-foot width restriction is in effect for all vehicles. Oversized loads and wider vehicles must seek alternate routes.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to www.kandrive.gov or call 5-1-1.
