Investigations by local and area law enforcement agencies has led to the seizure of more than 15 pounds of methamphetamine and the arrests of nine individuals to date.
A press release from Seward County Undersheriff Ryan Roehr said beginning in October 2025, the sheriff’s office in coordination with the Liberal Police Department and the Haskell County Sheriff’s office conducted a comprehensive investigation into a meth distribution network operating throughout Southwest Kansas and the surrounding region.
“Throughout the course of this investigation, numerous individuals involved in both the use and supply of illegal narcotics were identified,” Roehr said. “To date, nine arrests have been made of individuals directly involved in the distribution and use of dangerous drugs within our communities. As a result of this investigation, more than 15 pounds of methamphetamine intended for distribution have been seized.”
Roehr said this remains an ongoing investigation, and additional arrests are anticipated.
“The Seward County Sheriff’s office would like to thank the Kansas Highway Patrol for their assistance and cooperation in this investigation,” he said. “The Seward County Sheriff’s office remains committed to aggressively targeting drug trafficking organizations and individuals who threaten the safety and well-being of our communities.”
Roehr said through continued collaboration with local, state and federal law enforcement partners, the sheriff’s office will persist in its efforts to disrupt the distribution of illegal drugs, hold offenders accountable and protect the citizens of Seward County and the surrounding region.
“The person(s) involved have not yet been convicted of a crime and are presumed innocent,” he said. “The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time the person(s) accused may be found guilty by a court of law.”
