A Texas County, Okla., teenager is dead following a fatality accident Sunday night in that Panhandle county.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported around 10 p.m. Sunday, a 1998 Dodge Ram was traveling westbound on Texas County Road D about 12 miles north of Guymon, Okla., when the driver came upon a pothole in the road.

OHP said the driver, a 16-year-old male from Hooker, Okla., appeared to have tried to dodge the pothole, swerved to the right and overcorrected.

OHP said the pickup began sliding to the left as it was leaving the roadway, hit a ditch, went airborne and rolled about two and a half times. The report added the driver was ejected about 10 yards from the vehicle.

The youth was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Troopers ruled going left of center as the cause of the wreck, and the teen was not wearing his seat belt at the time.
