Several pounds of illegal drugs, including numerous fentanyl pills, have been seized in the past few months as part of investigations by the Seward County Sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Gene Ward issued a press release Monday stating deputies have conducted investigations into multiple drug distribution networks in Southwest Kansas and surrounding communities in an attempt to clean up the drug trade in Seward County.
“We still have a lot of work to do, but I believe we have put a dent in it,” he said.
During these investigations, nine search warrants on businesses, homes and vehicles have been completed. Ward said this has resulted in 13 arrests for the distribution of controlled substances.
“More than eight pounds of methamphetamine, one and a half pounds of cocaine, numerous fentanyl pills, THC products and crack cocaine have been seized,” he said. “The total street value of these dangerous drugs is estimated to be worth more than $360,000.”
Ward said the sheriff’s office would like to thank the Liberal Police Department, Haskell County Sheriff’s office, Grant County Sheriff’s office and the Kansas Highway Patrol for their assistance with these investigations.
“The Seward County Sheriff’s office remains diligent in the pursuit of these drug trafficking organizations that distribute these dangerous drugs to our children and into our communities,” he said.
