Those looking for some stylish outfits or some gameday wear now have a great new place to shop downtown.
Main Revelation, located at 206 N. Kansas Ave., had its grand opening Friday morning, and owners Beth Beard and Pamela Hamlin said the store has been in the works for a while.
“We actually knew each other because our daughters played basketball together, so we definitely weren't strangers. I'd started doing custom water bottles, which I was selling on Facebook, and then t-shirts,” Beard said. “I was getting bombarded by those orders, and she actually came to me and asked if I needed help, which I definitely did. That was in 2016, and it grew from there. We then moved on to including t-shirts, so we added the screen printing area, and then we bought our building in Hugoton. It was 2017 when the business started getting really serious, and we opened our first store on Black Friday 2019, but we'd been doing some remodeling before all of that was official. And we both do quite a bit of shopping in Liberal already, and we're always looking for the next thing to do.”
“Everything's felt slow and fast at the same time with all of this, but it's a really great feeling,” Hamlin added. “We'd made some goals for every year, and opening a spot in Liberal was one that had been on our list for a long time. There was a night a few years ago when we were in the shop doing some work and we just randomly started talking about a second location, and then I said 'I'll make some phone calls,' and here we are. It all happened really quickly.”
The pair then did some building shopping throughout town, and they both agreed the location downtown was perfect.
“We'd looked at a few other spots in town, but we both just absolutely loved this building and we knew we'd be able to remodel it to what we wanted,” Hamlin said.
“And it did require some work to make it boutique-ready, but the overall bones of everything were exactly what we wanted, so we jumped on it as quickly as we could,” Beard added. “And we are so, so glad we did.”
Beard and Hamlin then went into some more detail about some of Main Revelation’s wares.
“Right now, we're mostly focused on women's apparel, and we do also do custom team apparel and for families and orders like that,” Beard said. “We also sell officially licensed college gear and at the moment, we've got KU, K-State, OU, OSU, and we'll also have some items from Wyoming.”
“And since our children were all active in sports and all of those activities, we also do the gameday apparel, and we love having all the school spirit and everything else,” Hamlin added.
Beard and Hamlin agreed they are excited to be in the Liberal community and offered encouragement for people to come in and browse the store’s selections.
“We're really big on community support, whether it's a school fundraiser or helping a family that's found itself in an unfortunate situation – anything to help the community,” Hamlin said. “So I think being able to jump into another community and continue doing that work, that's just awesome and we're looking forward to all of that.”
“I'm looking forward to meeting all the new people who come into the store and helping everyone who comes in,” Beard added. “Come in and browse around, because you might find exactly what you're looking for for your outfit. And if anyone has any suggestions or feedback as far as what we should carry or anything like that, let us know, because we're all about helping people stay local and shop local.”
Main Revelation’s hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and then 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
“We're really excited to be in Liberal, and we hope everyone comes in and checks us out because again, we might have exactly what you're looking for,” Beard said.
