HHS announces Medicare Advantage, Part D prescription proposals to improve care, access

Medicare and Medicaid costs continue to be a concern for many people and recently, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) took some action to help with just that.

Last Tuesday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is proposing actions in the Medicare Advantage (MA) and Medicare Part D prescription drug programs to continue to strengthen protections and access to care for people with Medicare, according to a release from HHS.

Age-related changes for drivers can impact safety for all travelers

Family members, caregivers and older adults are encouraged to be proactive and discuss ways to continue driving safely as part of Older Driver Safety Awareness Week, which was recognized this past week.

In 2023, 87 Kansas drivers aged 65 and older were involved in a fatal crash, while 3,927 in that age group were involved in an injury or serious injury crash, according to KDOT stats.

County reviews employee handbook

Seward County commissioners made light work out of three action items on Monday’s agenda.

The first item concerned corrections made to the county’s recently approved employee handbook.

Seward County Human Resources employee Rosa Conley explained errors were found after commissioners approved the original handbook in October.

County to host town hall meeting Tuesday

Seward County commissioners and staff are inviting everyone to let their voices be heard at an upcoming town hall meeting.

The meeting will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the commission chambers on the second floor of the Seward County Administration Building at 515 N. Washington Ave. in Liberal.
