LETTER TO THE EDITOR, Starley Craig, Liberal
Ah, deja vu all over again! I read the paper. Our “new” board members are the old guard in a new paint job. I’ll quote you a sentence from a feather merchant’s of “educational programs” sales pitch for another program. You tell me what it says:
“This year, we have focused on developing administrators’ instructional lens while providing specific feedback in bite-sized, actionable steps through observational feedback.”
Whooboy!
Whoa. Wait. Did that say we’re already doing it? What’s the antecedent to “we,” as in “We have focused ...” Who has focused? What the devil does this say?
I suggest if we want better grades that we simply drop standards. Actually, we’ve been doing that for a long time, anyway, so it’s not a big step. An ‘A’ could be 100 percent to 75 percent mastery of content, a ‘B’ from 74 percent to 30 percent mastery of content, and a ‘C’ from 30 percent to 0 percent mastery of content. And graduate everybody.
Go to the school board meetings. You’ll love it.
