LETTER TO THE EDITOR, Haden Olive, Liberal
In response to the attack Commissioner Janeth Vazquez made on me, she was wrong when she stated my float was racist and not about democracy. It was 100 percent democracy. My freedom of speech is a right the radical left wing hasn’t been able to take away from American citizens, much to their chagrin. No bullying, no intimidation, just my personal opinion.
She had the right to have an entry in the parade, which she did the first time she ran for office, asking for votes. Perhaps with three positions open and three candidates running it wasn’t worth her time to enter.
Her choice.
This is the same right I had to have an entry asking citizens to not vote for her.
Notice Commissioner Vazquez was very careful in her wording. Not once did she say “illegal” immigrants. I also stand 100 percent for immigrants — “legal” immigrants.
I agree with her position on “helping families understand their rights under the law.”
Unfortunately for Commissioner Vazquez, “illegal” immigrants have broken the law and therefore are criminals and have no place in our country except behind bars.
And typical of the radical left wing, because my views differ from theirs I’m labeled a racist. Surprise!
I agree with Commissioner Vazquez that enough is enough. Enough crying and complaining when someone else’s views differ from yours. It’s unbecoming of someone that wants to be a leader in a community. If you can’t accept criticism, perhaps instead of politics you should seek another way to serve the community.
And enough calling those with different views than yours racist. Enough is enough.
I am proud to be a MAGA Republican, and like Commissioner Vazquez, I also will not be intimidated nor will I be silenced, and I will not back down, either. Looks like we have more in common than differences.
