LETTER TO THE EDITOR, Susan Lukwago, Liberal
The generosity of Liberal and Seward County knows no bounds!
As you may know, we started off the month of November with uncertainty regarding food security for some of our family, friends and neighbors. I am very grateful to share how our community is stepping up.
Right away, two individuals contacted the Liberal Area Coalition for Families and offered cash donations so we could buy food for the pantry. In case you do not know, the LACF has a food pantry that is housed at Crosspoint Church. Thank you for hosting us, Crosspoint Church. Soon after these generous individuals gave us cash, another generous person called and said she had some food to donate. She had purchased lots of food that included kid-friendly treats and that was so thoughtful.
Then guess what? Organizations and businesses in the community contacted LACF and asked how to do food drives for us. We provided our list of preferred items — though we gratefully accept what is offered — and you will not believe the number of places that have conducted or are in the process of conducting food drives: the City of Liberal, First United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Department of Children and Families (DCF), Rapid Fit and Southwest Medical Center. Thank you so very much already. I am sure this is a partial list as our community is very generous.
From generosity to prosperity! Look at us go!
