We are so divided as a country that no matter what one side will do, the other side will automatically take the opposite view no matter what.
I’m sure that recent Democratic Party strategy sessions were prepared to condemn President Donald Trump for not doing enough to stop Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela, and then scrambled to condemn Trump for arresting him.
They were also prepared to blame Trump for Biden-level inflation, but when that subsided they retool the opposition to refer to “affordability.”
It’s an undefinable claim, mush like switching global warming to climate change.
No matter what position Trump takes, Democrats are prepared to instantly release an opposition statement, even if they were preparing for an exact opposite statement the day before.
How is it that impromptu “protests” were able to take place with professionally designed and printed signs asking to free Maduro? I wonder where their signs that said, “Arrest Maduro” went? Probably somewhere in the third world like T-shirts printed for the team that loses the Super Bowl.
It’s impossible to govern like this.
Opposition is fine and required.
The protesters in Minneapolis have every right to protest. What they don’t have the right to do is park their car sideways in the middle of the street. That’s simply not allowed.
Should a protester be shot for that? Of course not, but attempting to speed off with officers in close proximity to the vehicle can lead to putting lives at risk on all sides.
We are confusing protesting with rioting.
Why is it that the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol was an “insurrection” but obstructing federal agents from enforcing federal law isn’t?
Why is it that one side will defend Joe Biden until he literally couldn’t complete sentences in public, and the other defends crass language?
We aren’t interested in facts in the Minnesota shooting. Their elected officials certainly aren’t. To them, ICE agents are criminals. Their police force might as well be neutered alley cats. They wear badges but do little to nothing to enforce the law.
It’s amazing that these politicians fight more to protect violent criminals being in their community than they do to protect federal law enforcement agents from obstruction.
The people who put these protesters at risk weren’t the federal agents who were there to conduct action required by the law, it was their local leaders who failed to protect those agents with the same vigor they protect violent criminals.
Local officials do not have to cooperate with ICE officials in carrying out their duties of enforcing border, but they are required to keep peace on the streets. Allowing protesters to escalate to obstruction put Renee Good at risk for something to go wrong.
Maybe that’s what they wanted. The opposition to Trump doesn’t care if someone has to die to make a point. They left the door open so the situation was going to happen.
Notice these events always seem to happen in Portland, Ore., or New York City or Minneapolis — all areas that have had anti-police movements.
Not having people support law enforcement leads to the deeper question of why?
There is no question that law enforcement officers have made mistakes, and they face justice just like anyone else.
But the concept of law enforcement can’t be tossed because of the actions of a few.
The only way we can have a civil society is through law enforcement.
Why would one political party believe law enforcement is not needed or should be defunded?
The simple truth is that thin line of defense prevents them form intimidating their opposition. As soon as they can control all aspect of society, believe me they will have “peace keepers” that would protect them from the people.
No matter the outcome of this case, a woman is dead and an officer will either be charged or exonerated. Even if charged they will either be found innocent or guilty in a court of law.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey isn’t interested in justice. He is interested in social justice, which means villainizing capitalism, pushing claims of racism, and attacking anything that doesn’t conform to his socialist view. Minutes after the tragic shooting Frey was convicting the ICE officer on live television. He was discounting any claim of self defense after watching the worst angle of the incident.
Governor Tim Walz was only one step behind making the same outlandish claims.
They deemed this officer a murderer, and any claim of self defense was “propaganda.”
What would I have done? I don’t know. I hope to God I never have to choose between pulling the trigger or wondering if I will be run over or not, even if the driver may not have intended to hit me, but was bumping me.
This isn’t a moment to judge what I would do. It’s whether or not the officer felt he was in danger. Some will agre with him, others won’t. The law will sort it out, and we can always review the law and decide if it defines the moment the way we believe it should.
Why is it that an event like this so clearly divides America down the political lines?
Once the Democratic mayor attacked the ICE officer, the die was cast. All other Democrats had to fall in line, and Republicans did the same on the other side.
Where are the leaders who called for calm and put their faith in the justice system?
How can anyone trust justice after watching Trump’s case in New York? Juries in these hot spots are simply a matter of political ideology, not justice.
Political objectivity is no longer an asset.
