Suain Moncayo didn’t just break the all-time career scoring record Thursday in Hesston. He destroyed it.
Moncayo tied Edwin Moreno with 58 goals Tuesday against Garden City, and Thursday in Hesston Moncayo broke the record with Liberal’s third goal of the game with 30:36 to play in the first half.
But that was just the beginning of the onslaught of goals for Moncayo.
Two minutes later Moncayo scored his 60th goal of the season to give the Redskins a 4-0 lead, and then he had the hat trick with his third goal of the game with 24:26 to play in the first half that gave the Redskins a 5-0 lead.
Alan Baeza scored the first goal of the game for the Redskins, and Gael Chavira scored the second, and Johnny Young snuck in a goal after Moncayo’s hat trick to give the Redskins a 6-0 lead.
Moncayo continued to pound the net two-and-a-half minuted later with his fourth goal on the night for a 7-0 lead, and Ariel Gaytan joined in five minutes later with a goal to give Liberal an 8-0 lead.
Moncayo scored his fifth goal of the game a few seconds later to give the Redskins a 9-0 lead, and Giezi Gonzalez added a goal with 10 minutes to play in the first half that gave the Redskins a 10-0 lead.
Moncayo then tied the all-time most goals in a game with his sixth goal to give the Redskins an 11-0 lead, and with six minutes remaining in the first half, Moncayo claimed the record for himself when he scored his seventh goal of the game — a record — and his 65th of the season — also a record — in a 12-0 mercy rule win for the Redskins.
Liberal’s defense has only allowed four goals all season.
