HUTCHINSON — Liberal’s season came to an end in Hutchinson Thursday in a 33-13 loss to the Salt Hawks.

Liberal couldn’t overcome several mistakes including a fumble near the Salt Hawk 20 yard line.

Hutchinson also shocked the Redskins with a fourth-and-14 fake punt that gave the Salt Hawks a 14-yard gain, just enough for a first down.

James Fieser continued to shine for the Redskins with a 62-yard touchdown reception that cut Hutchinson’s lead to 14-7 early in the second quarter, and after he became the target of the Salt Hawk defensive back field, he continued to make receptions including a six yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter that cut Hutchinson’s lead to 26-13.

But the Angry Red defense couldn’t contain the Salt Hawk running game, and Hutchinson put the game out of reach with a58-yard touchdown drive that ate up most of the time off the clock.

Liberal ended with a 7-3 record.
