HUGOTON — James Fieser has been a welcome addition to the Redskin lineup after missing the first three games of the season with an illness, and while he has added some offensive punch to the team, the Redskins are still struggling to slow down opponents.
Tuesday, Liberal could not find a way to slow down the Hugoton Eagles in a 63-32 loss.
The Redskins had several opportunities to keep the game close in the first quarter, but possessions came up empty when shots missed, and the Eagles didn’t allow many second-chance opportunities.
The Redskins only scored four points in the first quarter and trailed 15-2.
Fieser started to push the ball to the basket in the second quarter and scored 10 of his 13 points in the period, but he got little help from the rest of the line-up. Landon Martinez made the only other basket for Liberal in the period, and by half Liberal trailed 35-16.
Liberal continued to fall short in the second half, and fell 63-32.
Liberal finished the first semester at 2-4 and will host 5-1 Great Bend Jan. 3.
