The Seward County Lady Saints fell short in its battle with Coffeyville, losing 75-63 Saturday at the Greenhouse.

The Lady Saints dropped to 6-4 in the Jayhawk Conference and 11-5 overall. The loss was also Seward's first home loss of the season, falling to 8-1 at the Greenhouse. Seward hits the road for its next game, playing at Hutchinson at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

It was a game of quarters in the first half. Seward held an 18-10 lead after one while Coffeyville, on the strength of a 27-10 quarter, took a 37-28 lead at the half.

Seward battled back and whittled the lead down to one in the third quarter, but Coffeyville hit a three at the end of the quarter and opened a 53-47 heading into the fourth.

The Lady Saints hung tough and whittled the margin down to 63-61 with 3:07 left, but the Red Ravens went on a 9-2 run to salt the game away.

Four of the five starters had almost all the scoring for the Lady Saints. The bench produced only two points. Avery Marchino led the way with 20 points while Allie Myers had 15 points along with eight rebounds. Kylie Hunt had 14 points and three steals and Ari Gordon chipped in 12 points and four steals.

Karys Washington scored 18 points, Norika Welch netted 16, including 3-of-5 from three-point range and Aubrey Hishaw added 14 points for Coffeyville, which took over sole possession of third place in the Jayhawk at 7-3. The Red Ravens are 12-3 overall.
