TURPIN, Okla.— The Turpin Cardinals forced 19 turnovers and held the Goodwell Eagles without a field goal for almost eight minutes in the first half on their way to a 72-45 win.

Turpin took an early 11-2 lead capped by a Jhett Huffman three with 4:31 left in the first quarter and led 17-9 with 20 seconds left in the first. The Cardinals then went on a 23-2 run with the Eagles only points coming at the line. Goodwell finally hit their first field goal of the quarter with 36 seconds left in the half. Turpin led 40-13 at the break.

Turpin outscored Goodwell 21-12 in the third to extend their lead to 36 (61-25) heading into the fourth. The Cardinals coasted to the 27-point win.

Jhett Huffman led Cardinal scorers with 18 points, four steals, four rebounds, and three assists. Carson Peters added 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, and four steals. Elijah Navarro scored 11 points and added four steals. Mason Nelson and Jag Huffman each contributed 8 points apiece off the bench, and Saul Alvarado added 7.

Turpin (16-3) will host Elkhart tonight, then host the winner of Texhoma vs. Fargo-Gage-Ft. Supply, Saturday for the district championship.
