The Liberal Wrestling Club switched gears and attended a Folkstyle Tournament in Holly, Colo., Saturday. They had five wrestlers in attendance.
“This tournament really had some great competition,” coach Krista Holcomb said. “There were wrestlers from Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico. Our wrestlers had some tough matches but held themselves high and battled through it,”
Alyvia Holcomb had a strong day on the mat.
“There was not a separate girls division for this tournament but that didn’t stop Alyvia,” Holcmob said. “She was able to hold her own against the boys and the girls for the day with only one loss in her seven matches.”
Alyvia Holcomb double bracketed and took first in one bracket and second in the other. She ended her day with two pins and three tech falls.
Other results are as follows:
Julian Gonzalez, second, one pin
Elias Holcomb, third, one pin
Marco Jimenez, second
AC Gomez, second, one pin
Liberal Wrestling Club members will switch back to Freestyle and Greco as they head to Borger, Texas, Saturday.
