Seymour Rogers wrestling team continued to take important steps forward despite facing some very good teams and giving up multiple open weight classes. They showed steady improvement, strong effort, and had several standout individual performances.

Seymour Rogers opened the day against Garden City Kenneth Henderson, falling 66–20 but earning key wins from Juan Morales, Ili Cruz, and Jacob Vargas, each turning in dominant efforts in their respective matches.

The Apaches then squared off against a very tough Dodge City squad, where Domingo Lopez Pu delivered Seymour Rogers’ lone victory with an impressive fall at 141 pounds.

In their matchup with Garden City Horace Good, Seymour Rogers kept battling, highlighted by lightning-quick pins and major decisions from team leaders Juan Morales and Valentin Garcia.

The breakthrough of the day came in the final dual, where Seymour Rogers outlasted Ulysses Middle School in a thrilling 44–42 victory. The Apaches collected a series of crucial wins — many coming by fall or forfeit — to seal the team win. Dominant performances were turned in by Aldo Avitia, Royce Guzman, Jacob Vargas, Domingo Lopez Pu, Lann Phommaly, and Valentin Garcia.

 

Undefeated wrestlers for the weekend:

Juan Morales (90 lbs) – 3-0 with two forfeits and one 20-second pin

Domingo Lopez Pu (141 lbs) – 3-0 with two pins

Valentin Garcia (215 lbs) – 3-0 with a major decision and two forfeits
