ARKANSAS CITY – Kimora Fagan erupted for a career-high 25 points and the Lady Saints sunk 13 threes as they rolled to a 73-52 win at W.S. Scott Auditorium on Wednesday evening.
Seward (13-4, 8-3 KJCCC) was firing on all cylinders as they knocked down 13-28 (46.4 percent) from distance and held Cowley (9-8, 5-6) to 23.2 percent (13-56) shooting from the field. Both the percentage and field goals made were season-lows for the Tigers. Seward has now won four straight over the Tigers in Arkansas City.
“Our team did a really nice job coming together tonight,” head coach Will Marchino said. “Our defense showed up in a great way.”
Fagan shot 7-12 from distance, also chipping in four rebounds and three assists. Four of her made threes came in the first half.
Au’Rayona Seals also turned in a big game with a career-high 14 points to go with four assists. Avery Marchino had eight points and eight rebounds, and Trinitee Holmes had seven points and eight rebounds.
“This game was a lot of fun because we got everyone in,” said Marchino. “Everyone got to play. We’re going to enjoy this one before turning around to take on Dodge City.”
Seward outrebounded Cowley 39-32 and led by as much as 23 late in the fourth quarter. Cowley shot 19-30 from the free throw line and Seward finished 12-15. The Lady Saints led 30-26 at halftime and 50-42 after the third quarter but outscored the Tigers 23-10 in the fourth to secure the 21-point win. Cowley was held to 1-17 from the field in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Saints have now won three straight games entering Saturday’s matchup with the fourth ranked Dodge City Conquistadors in Dodge City, tipoff at 1 p.m.
