For the first time since 2019, the Seward County Community College men’s basketball team is ranked in the NJCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Rankings.
The Saints, led by first year head coach Austin Downing, checked in at No. 19 in the week nine poll that was released on Tuesday. Seward, Dodge City (No. 15) and Butler (No. 25) are the three Jayhawk Conference schools to be ranked this week.
Seward has received votes in the poll multiple times this season, but this is their first time to join the top 25. The last time Seward was ranked inside the top 25 was week one of the 2019-20 season on November 11th when they checked in at No. 24 off a 3-0 start.
This year’s Seward squad is currently 13-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play. They are tied for second place with Butler in the 13-team conference and just recently completed the first round of play in the Jayhawk.
Seward earned a 91-83 overtime win on the road at Cowley last Wednesday before falling 79-77 at No. 21 Dodge City on Saturday.
The Saints host Cloud County on Wednesday evening for an 8 p.m. tip in The Greenhouse. Admission is free and the game sponsor is The Gould Foundation.
