Agustin Gallegos Velazquez, 57, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 at the University Hospital in Denver.
He was born Aug. 23, 1967, to Amador Gallegos Garcia and Cirila Velazquez in Tierra Blanca, Guanajuato, Mexico.
He married Maria Garcia April 14, 1986 in Mexico. She survives.
He started to work at a young age on fields picking cotton in Mexico and later migrated to California to work on fields in 1986, ultimately becoming a permanent resident of the USA in 1988. He worked in the fields until he decided to move up to where he had heard of beef packing plants and started working in National Beef Packing in 1999 to 2015, when he became a supervisor.
He started his own small business of selling carnitas and then he became very well known by lots of people in Liberal and surrounding towns that would come to buy carnitas until he became ill.
He was super caring and always willing to help anyone, and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
Survivors also include three sons: Hugo Gallegos and wife, Veronica, Liberal, Uriel Gallegos and wife, Guillermina, Liberal, and Agustin Gallegos, Liberal; daughters, Marlen Gallegos, Liberal, and Margarita Rubi Gallegos, Liberal; brother, Alberto Gallegos; three sisters: Barbara Gallegos, Esperanza Gallegos, and Teresa Gallegos; and seven grandchildren: Zuhary Gallegos, Irvin Ibarra Jr., Hugo Jr. Gallegos, Adrian Gallegos, Hailey Ibarra, Nick Gallegos, Emiliano Gallegos, and a granddaughter on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Benito Gallegos; and sisters, Guillermina Gallegos and Florencia Gallegos.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2024 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 1510 N. Calhoun Avenue in Liberal, with Reverend Agustine Owusu presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
