ULYSSES – Gary Michael Meierhoff, 63, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024 at his home in Ulysses.
He was born Nov. 20, 1960 to Ronney and Shirley (Weiss) Meierhoff.
He married Maureen Sullivan Nov. 28, 1981. She survives.
After graduating in 1978 from Ulysses High School, he attended Dodge City Community College on a baseball scholarship and earned an associate’s degree.
He worked for almost 40 years at Columbian Chemicals while also operating Meierhoff Lawn Care for 18 years.
He enjoyed watching and playing baseball and softball, camping, fishing, golfing, dove and pheasant hunting, and watching KU basketball.
His favorite times were watching his kids and grandkids participate in various sports and activities.
He was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Survivors also include his father; children: Andrea Turner and husband, Bryan, Las Vegas, Lindsay Dvorak and husband, Eric, Spearville, Megan Morales and husband, Mario, Oklahoma City, Janni Martinez and husband, Dominic, Kansas City, and Alec Meierhoff and fiancée, Julia Hinman, Shawnee; brother, Doug Meierhoff and wife, Lisa, Wichita; 10 grandchildren: Gannon and Kenryck Morales, Jarran, Cammack, Dane and Sadie Dvorak, Quinn and Crew Turner, Kaylor and Evie Martinez; and 22 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
• Funeral Mass took place Monday, Oct. 21, 2024 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi presiding.
Burial took place at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.
