Emilee Megan Grayce Hamilton, 15, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024.  

She was born Dec. 5, 2008 to Elisha (Waide) Hamilton.

She was a sophomore at Southwestern Heights High School, where she was active in KAYS, Student Council, FCCLA, FFA, Show Choir, Band, Jazz Band, Choir, National Honor Society (NHS), Kansas Musical Educators Association (KMEA), and Cheerleading. She made the “A” Honor Roll this year. She served as STUCO Representative and Softball Manager for the 2024 season. She also played volleyball in prior years.

In 2023, she became a member of the Liberal Police Department Cadet Program. As a Cadet, she was always the first to volunteer, even if it scared her.

She was determined, stubborn, sassy, loving, and so, so sweet and caring. She instantly lit up a room with her vibrant personality, infectious laugh and smile.

Survivors include her mother; brother, Eli Hamilton; sister, Embree Hamilton; grandparents: Vernon Waide, Liberal, Kenny Furr, Crescent, Okla., Brandy Farnsworth, Woodward, Okla., David Hamilton (Mary), Wellington, and Leigh Ann Barber (Thomas), Tyrone, Okla.; honorary grandparents, Stan and Cheri Reiss, Kismet; aunts: Faron Gilkey (Jeremiah), Guymon, Okla., Rena Jackson (Christopher), Colorado Springs, Gina Trichak (Mike), Colorado Springs, Jenny Chase (Jason), Kismet, Breanna Furr, Crescent, Okla., Ashleigh Bond (Andy), Tyrone, Okla., Brandee Furr, Tyrone, Okla., Tasha Hubbard (Johnny), Wichita, and Monique Harris (Davis), Wichita; uncles: Ethan Waide (Trinity), Gilmer, Texas, Raydan Furr, Crescent, Okla., and Ronnie Torrez (Lindsay), Wichita; many great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins; and many friends and fellow classmates.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kit Grote; great-grandparents, Glendon and Elrain Wear; uncle, Chance Waide; aunt, Megan Reiss; and cousins, Asher Nunn and Paisley Wear.

• A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 at the Southwestern Heights Gymnasium.

Burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery in Plains.

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024 at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
