Lawrence Daniel “Dan” Bell, 91, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024 at the Medical City in Denton, Texas.

He was born Dec, 4, 1932 to Robert Lafayette and Hattie (Maggard) Bell in Talihina, Okla.

He married Martha Eline Henry June 10, 1955 in Ada, Okla. She preceded him in death March 13, 1997.

He married Pat Ponder April 6, 2002. She preceded him in death Feb. 9, 2014.

He went into the oilfield industry and worked in it until he retired. This profession also had his family moving to different towns to be where the work was. He also spent much time away from his family, with his longest venture being an eight-month job in Africa consulting about offshore drilling.

He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hobbies such as hunting, fishing, golfing, photography, gardening, horseback riding, grilling, piloting his airplane, camping in the RV and motorcycle riding. One of the things he loved the most was sitting on his back patio and taking everything in.

He was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Liberal and had often attended the Falconhead Community Chapel in Burneyville, Okla.

Survivors include three daughters: Angela “Angie” Kay Randles, Rhonda Gay Schmidt, and Lesa Marie Kifer and husband, Dave; grandchildren: Tamra Rowan and husband, Reid, Kayla Holden and husband, Mitchell, Brian Danley and wife, Amber, Meghan Flammang, Justin Kifer and Brittney Kifer; great-grandchildren: Claire Rowan, Everett Rowan, Henry Holden, Virgil Holden, Travis Danley, Wyatt Danley, Kelci Danley, Gatlin Danley, Ryleigh Favalora, Giovanni Favalora and Frank Favalora; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Brad Flammang; brother, J.D. Bell; and sisters, Katherine Anderson and Eula Wright.

• A private family graveside service will take place Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 at the Liberal City  Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024 at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home in Marietta, Okla.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date for family and friends.
