HUGOTON – Nancy Jean Scott, 85, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024 at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses.

She was born Sept. 15, 1939 to Vincent and Sarah (Reynolds) Medcalf.

She graduated from Hugoton High School in 1957. She attended Emporia Teacher’s College where she earned her bachelor’s in teaching in 1961.

She taught kindergarten for several years in Wichita before moving to Hugoton in 1975, and taught school there until 2001. 

She attended the Church of God and then later My Father’s House in Hugoton.

She loved watching her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with friends and family. 

Survivors include sons, Stuart Scott and wife, Susan, Wichita, and Steve Scott, Liberal; sister, JoAnn Schnaufer, Lubbock, Texas; brother, Vincent Medcalf, Princeton, Ind.; and grandchildren: Austin Scott and wife, Allie, Olathe, Adam Scott, Wichita, and Amy Walters and husband, Mitchell, Shawnee.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton, with Pastor Eric Mason presiding.

Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.
