Robert Eugene “Jack” Hightower, 85, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 at Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House.
He was born July 18, 1939 to Freddy and Edna Mynatt Hightower.
At 17 he left Arkansas for Wichita to work with his uncle at Boeing. It was there he fell in love and married Janette Reese. They moved to Plains and spent their time together farming. She passed away at the age of 39.
He married Marjorie Pearce Bierman in 1979 and were later sealed in the LDS temple. She preceded him in death in 2017.
He reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Verbal Sipe Kimbrough, and they spent the final years of his life together.
He served in many teaching and administrative callings and enjoyed serving in the Denver Colorado Temple. He loved having the missionaries in his home and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He found joy in farming, pheasant hunting with his boys, and growing a beautiful garden.
He was blessed with a quick wit. His gift was making people smile. He was a hard worker and the first to help his fellow man.
Survivors include his sweetheart, Verbal Sipe Kimbrough; his children: Sid Bogue, Lisa Hamilton, Brenda Hoopes, Bill Bierman, Bonnie McQueen, and Beverly Astin; brothers, Jerry Hightower and Roy Mynatt; sisters, Maxine Hightower Holdge and Francene Hightower Peterson; and 25 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Tim Bogue; and siblings: Jimmy and Bill Hightower, Alene Hightower Garner and Nadeen Hightower Holloway.
• A private burial took place Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025 in Sidney, Ark.
