ULYSSES – Librado Hernandez, 85, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born Jan. 10, 1940 to Victor and Ricarda (Armendariz) Hernandez.
He married Felisa Galindo. She survives.
He played bass guitar for Los Humildes del Alamo. He loved music, dancing and spending time with his family.
He was extremely crafty and kept busy working on different projects.
He came to the U.S. as a migrant worker. He worked with Genzo Akagi and was recommended by Genzo for his next job, Five Rivers in Grant County where he worked until his retirement in 2018.
He took the time to teach God’s Word to his kids and grandchildren. He also faithfully served his Lord by playing for the Catholic church during masses.
Survivors also include his children: Argelia Hernandez, Victor Hernandez, Nidia Gallegos, and Elieser Banegas; and eight grandchildren: Alexis, Edgar and Aldo Balderrama, Xavier and Lluvia Gallegos, and Victor, Jaime and Briana Hernandez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; and son, Genaro Hernandez Galindo.
• Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, with funeral mass following at 7 p.m. at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi presiding.
Burial will be at a later date in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
