James "Sarge" McDaniel, 73, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2025 at his home in Tyrone, Okla.
He was born Dec. 8, 1951 to James and Clara (House) McDaniel.
He married Patsy Ruth Shumate Wesley March 31, 1972. She survives.
He was a graduate of Forgan High School with the Class of 1970.
He worked as a truck driver for Zenith Drilling for 30 years, retiring in 2019.
He enjoyed fishing, reading, and crossword puzzles. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and teaching them.
Survivors include daughters, Patty Knutson, Tyrone, Okla. and Trissa (Eric) Winter, Turpin, Okla.; son, James (Kristy) McDaniel, Scottsbluff, Neb.; sister, Janice Stebens; nine grandchildren: Cassie (James) Starkey, Amanda Winter and fiancé, Todd, Nicole (Chris) Jenkins, Jared (Jackie) McVey, Chelsey McDaniel. Ashley McDaniel, Laura Sokol, Kendra (Jared) Horrocks, and Dale McDaniel; 18 great-grandchildren: Peyton, Shanna, Everlee, Clara, Harley, Emily, Jesse, Zaniyah, Zainder, Liam, Keaghan, Saige, Daisy, Freyja, Dale, Zayden, Kash and Jasper; brothers-in-law, Dave Wesley and Jim Galbavy; sister-in-law, Karen Wesley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy and wife, Debbie Bruton; and sister, Shirley Mercer.
• Cremation has taken place per Sarge's wishes.
