ULYSSES – Mary Louise Campbell, 66, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2025 at her home in Ulysses. 

She was born Oct. 16, 1958 to Raymond Shankle and Roberta Groomer.

She married David D. Campbell in 1977. He preceded her in death.

Throughout her life, she worked as a waitress, housekeeper and clerk. 

She enjoyed any and all arts and craft projects, but had a particular fondness for crocheting and quilting.

She enjoyed being around her family, especially her late night chats with her daughter while they watched their favorite shows and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She was known for her love of frogs, Cheez-Its, Red Diamond tea, ice cold Pepsi and Dwight Yoakam music.

Survivors include daughter, Wendi (Nick) Hampton, Ulysses; son, William Shankle, Ulysses; sisters, Debbie Shankle, Oklahoma, and Lisa (Dale) Theye, Garden City; brother, William Groomer, Wiley, Colo.; sister-in-law, Barbara Groomer, Ulysses; seven grandchildren: Keegan Shankle, Ulysses, Kialynn Hampton (Brendon Pauda), Ulysses, Conner Shankle, Satanta, Kiesha Hampton, Ulysses, KiaLhe Hampton (Seth Shapland), Ulysses, Kamber Hampton (Ryan Staats), Manter, and Korbyn Hampton, Ulysses; and 12 great-grandchildren: Shyanne, Pheenyx, Maverick, Hudson and NoraLynn Pauda, Laynee, Emmett, and Hadlee Shapland, Beau Staats, Allister and Bjorn Shankle, and Eden Otto.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, David Wesley Shankle and Kenneth Wayne Groomer.

• Cremation has taken place.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
