MEADE – Alma E. Wiens Koehler, 94, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025 at the Lone Tree Retirement Community in Meade.
She was born Sept. 13, 1930 to David and Elizabeth (Classen) Reimer.
She married Menno Wiens July 12, 1969. He preceded her in death April 20, 1998.
She married George E. Koehler Sept. 18, 2005. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2018.
She attended grade school at the Pleasant Hill School, later attending and graduating from the Meade Bible Academy. In 1962, she completed beauty school in Liberal. After her training, she owned and operated Alma’s Beauty Salon in Meade for many years.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church and enjoyed crafts, painting, embroidery, punchwork pillows, working in her flower garden, cooking, baking (especially her cherry rolls), and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include daughter, Sharilyn Maben (George): son, Darrell Wiens (Liz); daughter-in-law, Barbara Wiens; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Nolan Wiens; three brothers: Daniel, Arnold, and George Reimer; and sister, Hulda Voth.
• A Celebration of Life service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2025 at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade.
A private family burial will take place at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade.
Memorials are suggested to the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
