ULYSSES – Vivian Smith, 77, died Thursday, April 3, 2025 at her home in Ulysses. 

She was born March 19, 1948 to Charles and Mary (Delong) Howard. 

After graduating high school in Ulysses in 1966, she continued her education at Panhandle State University.

After moving to Ulysses, she worked at IGA and Big R Standard Supply until retirement.

She attended Patterson Avenue Church of God and First Baptist Church, where she participated in Bible study. 

She enjoyed going to Monument Lake in Colorado, driving to Fraizer Park, Sonic iced tea, and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include her mother; son, Bryan Smith and wife, Shawna; nephew, Chris Howard and wife, Lynn, and their children; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; and brother, Wayne Howard.

• Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, with Reverend Jon Becker presiding. 

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
