Wilmer D. Bennett Sr., 82, died Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at his home in Liberal.

He was born Sept. 29, 1942 to Alfred and Zella Marie (Chamberlain) Bennett.

He married Sharon Sims Nov. 1, 1959. She preceded him in death.

He worked as a truck driver and loved his career, retiring in 2005.

He enjoyed fishing at Clark County Lake, hunting, scrapping, and working on cars.

He also loved raising Appaloosa Horses and drinking coffee at the coffee shop.

Survivors include son, Justin Bennett and wife, Cherl, Kismet; daughters, Vickie LaVonne Daniels, Hallowell, and Corrina Renee Paloma, Kansas City, Mo.; brothers-in-law, Roger Hoskinson, Liberal, and Albert Everett Hoskinson Jr., Coco Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Kay Allen Hoskinson, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Wilmer D. "Willie" Bennett Jr.; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jean Hoskinson and Carla Sue Branham.

• There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.
