ULYSSES – Karen Anderson, 80, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025 at Hays Medical Center in Hays.

She was born Nov. 3, 1944 to A.C. Allison and Vivian V. Schull in Caney

She graduated from Satanta High School in 1962 and continued her education at Wichita Bible College.

She married Melton Morphis.

She was employed at the JCPenney’s office in Liberal, The Ulysses News, and as a school bus driver for USD 214.

She also owned and operated her own trucking company, worked as a dispatcher for Grant County law enforcement, and later served as the night desk clerk at Peddler’s Inn, Single Tree Inn and Corporate East Hotel.

She enjoyed adventure and had a passion for traveling.

She is survived by her children: Becky Langley and husband, David, Ulysses, Cherryl, Casey Tipton and wife, Rita, Tooele, Utah, and Kelly Tipton and wife, Tera, Syracuse; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Aaron Morphis; brother, Curtis Allison; and great-grandson, Payton Lindsay.

• Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 at the Ulysses Church of Christ in Ulysses, with Minister Warren Baldwin presiding.

Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the Karen Anderson Memorial Fund, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
