Dorothy Ione Holsted, 95, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2025 in Lakin.

She was born Aug. 27, 1930 to William and Effie (Garrison) Kolling.

After her children were grown, she taught computer classes at Garden City Community College, impacting many lives along the way.

She was an avid cook and gardener.

She was a lover of country music and could often be found dancing and listening in joyful harmony to whatever song was playing.

Survivors include sons, Larry and wife, Connie Holsted, Garden City, and Greg Holsted, Meade and companion, Sandra, Garden City; sister, Shirley Owens of Firestone, Colo. and her daughters, Sandra and Jan; grandchildren: Amber Holsted and companion, Mark, and their children, Charlighe, Penelope Richardson, and Kory Painter, Nicole and husband, Vic Ciancetia and their children, Adaline, Victor William, and Beau, T.C. Holsted and wife, Aaron, Jason and Dawn Richardson and their children, Greyson and Branson, Lindsey and husband, Alex Buriak and their children, Viviana, Frankie, and Luca, and Nathan Richardson; Shane Holsted Arlo Clepper and daughter Caitlynn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.C. Holsted; daughter, Nancy Richardson; brothers, Henry Kolling and Robert Kolling; sister, Emma Welborn; and granddaughter, Heather Becker.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025 at First United Methodist Church at 1106 North Main Street in Garden City, with Reverend Obed Aying presiding.

Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for and payable to American Cancer Society, in care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main Street, Garden City, KS 67846.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 at Robson Funeral Home in Garden City.
