Robert “Bob” Walker, 87, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, in Wichita.
He was born Sept. 28, 1937, to Oscar Lee and Lucy Lavada (Washington) Walker in Turkey, Texas.
Bob led a life marked by dedication and love for his family and community. As a proud cattle rancher and farmer, Bob dedicated his days to nurturing the land and animals. He was the founder of the Kismet Cattle and the Bar W. Peters Cattle Feeders. He also served as a board member for CMS Electric and Plains Equity COOP, demonstrating his dedication to the farming community.
Bob was a Lay Reader at the Kismet Methodist Church, where he shared words of wisdom and kindness.
Bob graduated high school and attended Garden City Community College, where he not only gained knowledge, but showcased his athleticism as a track athlete, impressively running the mile in 4 minutes, 6 seconds.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was united in marriage to Donna M. Ball July 2, 1960, in Plains. Bob and his beloved wife, Donna M. Ball, celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage, creating a legacy of love and commitment that will endure through their three children.
Bob will always be remembered for his love of the simple pleasures in life, notably his fondness for a cold Pepsi and a Snickers bar.
With a heart full of cherished memories and a spirit that touched many, Bob Walker leaves behind a family and community whose legacy will continue to inspire them.
He is survived by his wife, Donna M. Walker of Kismet; sons, Theron Walker and his wife, Donna J., of Kismet, and Todd and his wife, Tamara, of Arlington; daughter, Gayle Baxter and her husband, Dennis, of Bella Vista, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Tom and Clyde Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchildren, Austin Lee Walker and Kiley Flanagan.
• Friends may call from 12 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 at the Kismet Methodist Church at 806 Main Street in Kismet, with Pastor Terry Mayhew presiding.
Burial will follow at the Kismet Cemetery in Kismet.
