Patricia Anne “Tish” Madden, age 77, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, in Golden, Colo.
Born Aug. 18, 1948 in Montgomery, Ala., Tish was the daughter of Colonel William and Betty Welch. Growing up in an Air Force family, her early life was shaped by a spirit of curiosity and creativity that guided her throughout her years. That same spirit led her across the globe in pursuit of artistic inspiration and personal growth.
A gifted artist with a deep appreciation for beauty and culture, Tish studied art at both the University of Madrid, Spain, and the University of Florence, Italy – two cities that profoundly influenced her creative journey. While living in Madrid, she served as a docent at the renowned Prado Museum, where she shared her passion for art history with visitors from around the world. It was also in Madrid where she met the love of her life, Jim. Their shared love of travel and adventure became a cornerstone of their life together as they began their marriage in that vibrant city.
Tish’s artistic talent was evident not only in her studies and museum work but also in the beautiful pieces she created throughout her life. Her artwork remains a cherished part of her family’s home, a lasting testament to the warmth, creativity, and joy she brought into their lives.
Tish and Jim later settled in Liberal, where they raised their daughters, Ashlee and Deborah. Her daughters were everything to her, and she cherished her role as a mother.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James Madden; daughters, Ashlee Falivene and husband, Ian Falivene, and Deborah Brannon and husband, Shawn Brannon; beloved grandchildren: Madelyne and Liam Falivene, and Morgan and Ryley Brannon; and her sisters, Barbara Gordon and Kippy Davis. Her family was the heart of her world, and she delighted in every moment spent with them, whether it was traveling with Jim or simply enjoying time together at home.
Tish was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel William and Betty Welch.
Her life was a beautiful canvas – filled with color, love, and adventure – and her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
• Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 at Applewood Valley United Methodist Church at 2035 Ellis Street in Golden, Colo.
