Florence Ann Dodson, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was born Feb. 26, 1946 to Floyd and Goldie (Mead) Shephard in Beaver County, Okla.

She married Delbert Wayne Dodson Nov. 26, 1961 in Beaver, Okla. He preceded her in death Nov. 6, 2024.

For 25 years, she ran the well-respected Knowles Country Store, where she was most famous for her homemade sausage burritos, chili and burgers.

She had a very active life of cooking, sewing, quilting and mowing her yard. She also enjoyed puzzles and computer games.

Survivors include son-in-law, Kenneth Gene Shelton Jr., Liberal; sisters, Clara Lemmons, Kelso, Wash., and Joyce Nansel, Wichita; grandchildren, Brittany Shelton, and Carley Smith and husband, Dalton; great-grandchildren, Jolynn Smith and Daxton Smith; and step-grandchildren, Shandi Ross, and Christina Rosendahl

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cheri Shelton; three brothers: Bill, Jimmy, and Chet; and sisters, Mary and Frances.

• Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025 at Knowles City Hall in Knowles, Okla.

Burial will follow at Knowles Cemetery in Knowles, Okla. 

Memorials are suggested to Oklahoma Heart Hospital in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, KS 67901.
