Robert “Bob” Wayne Kessler, 90, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2025 at Wheatridge Park Center in Liberal.
He was born Sept. 10, 1935 to William and Frieda (Becker) Kessler.
He married Zola Carruth Dec. 14, 1957 in Albuquerque, N.M. She preceded him in death.
He received his GED and worked as a mechanic for Panhandle Eastern. He was talented in many aspects, including diesel and auto mechanics and painting vehicles and homes. He also donated many hours of labor in the construction of the Assembly of God Church in Liberal.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family’s New Mexico cabin.
He secured a heavenly eternity by placing his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins.
Survivors include son, Kevin Kessler and wife, Colleen; daughters, Karen Small, and Robin Witzke and husband, Bill; nine grandchildren: Tyson Small, Brittany Ranasinghe and husband, Kaveen, Ryan Witzke and wife, MacKenzie, Madison Thompson and husband, Jaron, Kaden Kessler and wife, Lindsey, Courtney Moore and husband, Dylan, Cristyn Bowman and husband, Shane, Cathryn Kessler, and Cayleigh Kessler; five great-grandchildren: Opal Thompson, Rawlin Kessler, Liberty Kessler, Krishantha Ranasinghe, Arlo Moore and soon to arrive Arabelle Jean Bowman; and many other friends and family.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sharon Kessler; brother, William Kessler; and sister, Carol Kent.
• Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 at the Hornung Family Funeral Chapel, with Ryan Witzke and Dylan Moore presiding.
Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal.
