Kenneth Wayne Mitchell, 91 died Saturday, April 20, 2024 at SunPorch in Dodge City.

He was born March 28, 1933 to William Nelson and Grace (Sparks) Mitchell.

He married Ellen Marie Shafer Dec. 20, 1958. She survives.

He worked as a bus driver for 15 years.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, both in Liberal, as well as the Elk Club in Los Angeles.

He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955 and re-enlisted from 1955 to 1959.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, taking the grandchildren out and about, traveling with the family, and watching Chiefs football.

Survivors also include children, Shurlene Mann and Jeff Mitchell; sister, Jean Cullins; grandchildren, Jacob Mann and Shannon Mann; three step-grandchildren: Rex, Artt and Lance; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William “Billy” Mitchell; five brothers; five sisters; and son-in-law, Thomas Mann.

• Private family services will take place at a later date.

There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.
