ULYSSES – John Francis Brent, 82, died Friday, May 17, 2024 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City.
He was born Jan. 3, 1942 to Ola LeRoy and Helen Elizabeth (Weethee) Brent.
He married Janice Irene Troxel Dec. 23, 1962. She preceded him in death.
He was an accomplished musician. He could hear something and play it with his own flair and style on the organ, piano, or his instrument of choice, the accordion.
He lived his last few years at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City and enjoyed the daily visits from his friend, Shelia.
He loved flowers and they kept the flowerpots full.
Survivors include three children: Cheryl James and husband, Charles, Conroe, Texas, Gregg Brent and wife, Sandra, Nokomis, Fla., and Shelia Eichman and husband, Laverne, Dodge City; sister, Roma Dorain York, Ft. Smith, Ark.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, with one due in August.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Orman Brent, William Leroy Brent, and David Owen Brent; and sister, Irene Lucille Branham.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2024 at Garnand Funeral Home, with Chaplain David Johnson presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.
