Mark Wayne Wilson, 58, died May 12, 2024.
He was born Aug. 20, 1965 to Billy Lynn Wilson and Donna Dee Johnson Wilson.
He graduated from Liberal High School in 1983. He earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Southwestern College in Winfield, and a master’s degree in science from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla. He earned a comprehensive Culinary Certificate at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Austin.
He also earned a Captain’s License from the United States Coast Guard Maritime School.
He had numerous accomplishments in his life including playing collegiate tennis, working as a Sous Chef in numerous culinary establishments, and serving as a Captain for a deep sea and freshwater fishing cruise company.
He was the quintessential dog lover and enjoyed a lifetime of dogs whom he treated as family members.
He was a capable marksman and enjoyed upland game hunting as well as fishing. His travels took him to interesting venues in pursuit of big fish.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mooreland, Okla., and was involved in a Methodist Church in his home area as well.
Survivors include his sister, Lynn Wilson, Liberal; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Steve Wilson and Mary Wilson, Hutchinson; and many other family and friends.
• Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Libera.
